Puttabong, one of Darjeeling's oldest tea estates
Among the many tea estates in Darjeeling, Puttabong Tea Estate (Tukvar Tea Estate) is one of the oldest tea estates founded in 1860. With an area of 436 hectares, it is one of the largest tea estates in the Darjeeling area. It is said that the name was derived from the Lepcha word, which means fish hook, because the grounds of the tea estate are shaped like hooks. This is a tea estate that has introduced bio-organic farming methods since 2009. The tea estate is mainly planted with Chinese hybrids, which is one of the important elements that create the unique taste of this tea estate.
