A sweet cup of tea from the buds of a new tea estate between Bhutan and Bangladesh
This quality tea comes from a newly opened tea garden located near a lake in Meghalaya in India close to Bangladesh. These tea leaves with many long golden tips, show both plucking and manufacturing are taken with a great care. When the leaves unravel in hot water, the water turns to sepia in colour. The tea emits a sweet and roasted aroma, and tastes rich and sweet even reminiscent of dates. Enjoy.

Lakyrsiew Tea Estate
About 170 years ago, when the East India Company was searching the world for the best location for growing black tea, the Meghalaya region of India emerged as an ideal candidate.
However, due to opposition from the local tribes, who prohibit outsiders from owning land, tea production never actually took place. In 2002, people who learned about the historical background of the area started cultivating new tea at La Cacheux Tea Plantation. The tea plantation is located at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,300 meters on the south shore of Lake Umiam, and the mist that occurs throughout the year protects the tea plantation from drought in the dry season.
As of 2015, the production volume is only 1,800 kg. The black tea is produced using organic farming methods rather than large-scale farming, and is carefully handcrafted. Although the farm is not yet well-known to many people, it is a new farm that is gradually becoming known among black tea lovers.

However, recently, a few small farms have started production in this area, and high-quality black tea is being produced using organic farming methods. It is expected that this area will develop into a new tea producing region in the future.
